The Fjords Plunge

This family-friendly event invites hundreds to challenge the cold waters of the Señoret Channel in a one-of-a-kind experience filled with fun and adrenaline.

In 2025, the Fjords Plunge takes on special significance as the symbolic opening of the World Adventure Tourism Summit (ATWS 2025), the premier industry event, which will bring together more than 800 adventure tourism professionals from around the world in Puerto Natales.

A celebration that unites the community and promotes local tourism.

A key meeting was held between the organizers of the "Fiords Plunge", local tourism, commerce, and crafts associations, and the Municipality of Natales to coordinate details for the upcoming edition of this unique event in Magallanes.

Where is the event held?

The Fjords Plunge takes place on the waterfront of Puerto Natales, right in front of the Costa Australis Hotel, in the Magallanes Region.

The event officially begins at 2:00 PM with music, entertainment, and presentations. The plunge itself usually takes place between 3:00 and 4:00 PM, depending on the final lineup of performers.

- Before: Only warm, comfortable clothing.

- During: Swimsuit or light clothing + sandals or shoes (mandatory).

- After: Dry, warm clothes and a large towel or quick-dry poncho to change into.

You must be officially registered, accept and sign the online waiver, be of legal age (or have legal authorization if underage), and be in good health for cold-water exposure.

You can take an intercity bus (Bus Sur or Buses Fernández - approx. 3 to 3.5 hours) or drive via Route 9 North.

- Mandatory: sandals or shoes.

- Swimsuit, light clothes, or themed costume.

- Dry, warm clothes for after.

If you have heart conditions or other medical issues affected by cold, participation is not recommended. An IST ambulance will be available on-site for emergencies.

No. The plunge is a quick dip close to the shore. Swimming further or staying too long in the water is not allowed.
